A few simple rules keep every clip sellable and keep you on the right side of UK privacy law.

Shoot in the highest resolution your phone allows

4K if your phone supports it. Brands need footage that still looks sharp cropped into a 30-second ad.

Hold steady for at least 10 seconds

No handheld shake if you can help it - brace against a wall, or use two hands and slow, deliberate movement.

Film landscape, not portrait

Almost all commercial use is widescreen. Turn your phone sideways before you hit record.

Avoid clear, close-up faces

Wide shots of crowds are fine - a clear, identifiable close-up of one person isn't, under UK GDPR, unless you have their consent.

A car in the background is fine - a plate you could read and trace back to someone isn't. Keep moving traffic at a distance.

Skip anything overtly branded

Shopfronts in passing are fine, but avoid framing a shot around someone else's logo or trademark - it can stop a clip from being licensable.
